Spring drive

Well, I stopped by the house and couldn't help myself. Took the CS out for a spin. Here are my observations:
1) No stains on the rear seats or anywhere else.
2) No defects on the carbon roof.
3) Factory plastic still on the seat logos...LOL
4) Gas is $5.19 a gallon and I had to fill up.
5) Car is a beast.

I always fill up before storing any of my cars, and I haven't taken the CS out since last year….waiting for no salt and no winter in Chicago.

All accurate assessments! It is a beast. I am always pleasantly surprised at the power.

This is the best thread I have read in a long time!!!

My M2 is getting a new exhaust at ACM on Monday, I can't wait to drive her. She has been sleeping way too long!

I have Dinan with their x-pipe attached to the OEM midpipe. The sound was very nice, however the Dinan Tips were very large. I couldn't find a suitable alternative, so I ordered the Eisenmann M2 Competition Valved Exhaust and figured I would also try the AA EL res mid...

We shall see...

I just turned about 10,000 miles, and have really been noticing how awesome the engine sounds even in sport mode. I occasionally put it in sport plus, but even in sport mode I'm pleasantly surprised at the growl between 3 - 5k RPMs. My kids really like it.

I remember being somewhat underwhelmed by the sound when I first picked up the car. People said that the exhaust would mature overtime. I thought that was a bunch of kabuki, but I think there may be some truth to that.

It is aging well, like a fine wine.

And it's a beast. I have driven it in fair weather all winter. My tuned 1M came out of hibernation last week and while it is louder and more raw (stiff motor mounts!) it feels slow.

That's exactly the setup I am contemplating for my forthcoming cs, but potentially without resonators. Very interested to get your thoughts after install, and if you are willing to take some video/audio that would be massively appreciated!!

Best,

I sure will. I dropped her off yesterday.

P.S. I forgot how great the M2 is after not driving it for several months.

Thanks! Can't wait to hear it!!

And you are so right. This car is so much fun to drive, slow or fast. That to me is the ultimate sign of a great car.

Drove it for the first time since last winter yesterday. The biggest shock is always getting into other cars after and how "spongy" they all feel. The sound and vibration and fun was just great. It was just a run to the body shop to have them quote getting the small repair done to the car from catching the garage with the rear quarter last year , but it was still a fun drive!

I was skeptical too, but I noticed after taking it to a couple of track days and obviously revving it up, it got louder. Now at 6.5k miles it's actually maturing and I'm very pleased with the exhaust and induction sounds above 3k.

I think the suspension softens up over time too. I find the comfort setting being a little too soft more frequently now than when new. Seems like more body roll. I ride in sport more often.

Had the car out again today. Great to drive. But you can literally watch the gas gauge drop like a 60's muscle car.

That 12gal gas tank was a real miss by BMW. It's my only gripe about the M2.

They couldn't really change the gas tank form factor of the chassis for the M2. I got fine mileage in my M235i with the same tank though the M2's less efficient engine causes this issue. The same issue will probably apply to the G87 M2.

Lol

I've done 600 miles in my car and have topped up six times (literally after every second of third drive)

My economy (for want of a better term) is 21.8 litres to 100 km, which is a great achievement because it was averaging 24.1Lt/100km till last top up 🤣🤣

Mind you, I warm up the engine for at least five minutes before driving off, and let her cool down while engine runs for another five when returning

Did the first three letters of my username give it away? 😜
