It's a software protection that BMW has been using for a while now to prevent using the other model's software in a lower power model. In the case of M2C vs. M2CS, they are also using an FSC enabling code. Avoiding limp mode requires custom tuning one way or another.

I've done it for USA and Euro based vehicles. It would work for any variant. Depending on what needs to be done the price can vary quite a bit. I will discuss this over PM.
