The "older" DME is the same exact hardware as the newer DME, besides a different internal protection that was written in by Bosch to a non-BMW data area, beginning ~June/July 2020. They're still the same part numbers.

The DME from the M2C and M2CS is the same DME and they can accept whichever software. It's the same part numbers.

So yes, you can get a CS flash on a spare DME and a tune on top of that. It's the same process as the M2C, just using original M2CS data instead.
