M3 has 6600mi, either the belt failed prematurely or happened to pick up something from the road.

The post is meant more as a PSA, when M2Cs start racking up miles not to let maintenance slip. Typical interval is inspect at 30K and replace at 60K, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to inspect belts at every oil change.
