FYI, I just took the M2 into my BMW dealer's collision center. There was also a more minor underside scratch on the other side that was not easily visible.
The cost to repair both to BMW standards (plastic welding, etc.) is estimated to be $1,779.19 (1,528.32 Euro for those on the other side of the pond). The estimate from a body/paint repair shop recommended by a local independent BMW service shop was several hundred less, but they wouldn't be able to work on it for 3-4 weeks. A brand new bumper would be roughly twice the cost. I'm paying for it out of my pocket rather than insurance, but luckily the insurance company recently gave a rebate that was significantly more than the cost. The car goes into 3-month winter storage mid-December and the front bumper will be ceramic coated again after it comes back out since they recommend waiting 45 days after painting. Then I'll look into protection strips.
