That is definitely true for the base and S models - I think I read somewhere once that the average "lot" car has ~20K in options on top of the base price, which definitely moves the price needle quickly.

I do think it's less true on the GTS models - because those come with more options as standard, there are less "obvious" things to add. The new 718 GTS 4.0 will probably start around ~88-90K...I think the options I would add get it into the 95K range...compare that to an M2CS with DCT at 88K....well, which would you rather have, for a relatively small price delta?

I love the S55 and have had many BMWs, but you can't even buy a new BMW with a naturally aspirated motor anymore. The 718 GTS 4.0 is a game changer, because it shows Porsche is dedicated to providing the enthusiast with options below the GT4 / Spyder. I will definitely be looking to pick one of those up in the next 4-5 years (CPO of course).
