I think it's actually the left and right share the same rear half of the liner. They do not share the front half.
Wheels - I'm not sure if the offsets are identical but tires can play a role as advertised size doesn't always represent actual fitment. Also I wonder if the wheel shapes and how the tire bead seats plays a factor between rims. If the OG stuff clears, it could be by a hair. Compress either on a curbing at a track and I bet both will rub.
