That's exactly the same reason I am considering this (although I have no track car too!). I've never modified my suspension before and so when I read general articles about lowering springs vs coil overs, its always this big warning about using lowering springs...harsher ride, wearing out dampers faster, etc. On a mild drop, are those concerns somewhat insignificant? Also, is a 4 wheel alignment needed following an install of something like the Eibach's? Thanks

My opinion, regardless how mild the drop is, you are still changing somehow the geometry or load on the suspension components so there will be aditional wear but this is a very subjective topic and different people will have different opinions. I had the Pro Kit on my Acura for 3 years with STOCK shocks and never had an issue of blowing one. The advantage a coilover system has is that if you go with a good one they usually can be serviced and rebuilt if needed.
I am not concerned with my stock shocks on the M2 not holding up this drop since it is pretty mild.
Regarding the alignment, my suggestion would be yes, anytime you change something like this an alignment should be done to ensure everything is in specs afterwards. Gives you piece of mind. Did one at the local dealer couple days after I installed.
