I believe there are hacks people do to get carplay to go full screen, and honestly it's something i'm probably going to look into, because it bugs the crap out of me having such a tiny map. But the BMW navigation can be kind of bad sometimes as well, so it's not really a good replacement for google maps.

Thank you! If iDrive 6 screen displaying Google Maps by Apple CarPlay only fills 2/3rd of the screen, that doesn't seem much bigger than my smartphone screen. I didn't know that. That being the case, maybe it is not worth paying A$450. hmmm...
