I got lucky and after about a month and a half of looking for a Q1 2017 allocation I was able to snatch someone's allocation. The car had already entered production and it was the exact build that I wanted.
-22 FEB 2017: Secured allocation of car. Already Status 150.
-04 MAR 2017: Car finished production
-08 MAR 2017: Car arrives at Bremerhaven
-24 MAR 2017: Car FINALLY leaves Bremerhaven on the Horizon Highway
-10 APR 2017: Current projected arrival of car in port in Charleston, SC
-08 MAY 2017: Scheduled PCD, yay!
So just a shade over 5 months for me from the time I started looking until my scheduled pickup at the Performance Center. I actually waited longer for my only other BMW, a 2013 BMW R1200GS. That was around 7 months from placing a deposit and being first in line at my local dealer and taking delivery in mid May 2013.
