in your parlance...the most " focused" M3 models... the E30 M3 and E46 M3.. both had a Sport Evo and CSL model..... and a convertible ..

E30, E36, E46, E90, F80 M3 all have convertibles

1M did not... M2 ... ? with a full 7 year life cycle for the 2 series as long as 2 series verts are selling well. And with the crazy price of the Z roadsters... as well as their age........ I would say odds on that they would make an M2 vert unless that category is shrinking badly

If BMW wants a "focus" model in the 2 series range.. that would be most easily done with a CSL model...
