M2 Competition Painted Grille Center (Split Kidneys)

Anyone ever tried to paint the center of the joined kidney grille on the M2 Competition?

I'm thinking of attempting it myself and was wondering if anyone has any input or ideas that might help me and anyone else who's thinking of doing the same.

The steps I'm going to do are as follows:

1- Remove the kidney grille (not really needed, but it should make it easier to tape up and clean)

2- Wipe clean with water and dish soap, then dry with a microfiber towel

3- Clean with isopropyl alcohol (or wax and grease remover)

4- Tape up the area around the edges of the kidneys using masking tape and mask the grille to avoid overspray (and the surrounding area if the grille wasn't removed)

5- Lightly sand the area that's intended to be painted using 600 grit sanding paper

6- Wipe clean with isopropyl alcohol

7- Apply plastic primer (2-3 coats, wait 10 minutes between coats)

8- Apply adhesion promoter

9- Wait a few minutes, then apply 3-4 coats of paint (again wait for 10-15 minutes between each coat)

10- Apply clear coat (3 coats, wait a few minutes between each coat)

11- Wet sand with 1,500 grit paper (optional to eliminate any unwanted orange peal effect)

12- Remove tape, and reinstall the grille
