Doesn't really sound all that bad considering the fact that you drove the car from coast to coast, and in all honesty, it was to be expected. I do believe that the PPF saved you from a lot more damage.
I am definitely looking forward to road-tripping in the M2, will get a full front ppf before I do though as I am way to meticulous when it comes to my cars, so much so that even though I can't see the rock chips if I stand a couple of feet back, I know they're there, and that's enough to bother me (This probably applies to most of us XD).
