Yes, gotta pay up front for ED - should be confirmed in the documentation. The lame part is you have to pay in full 7-10 days ahead of the ED date - this is the contract date and your 4-year warranty starts on that date. Not a big deal in the long run (and worth it for the ED experience) but it's pretty lame to have the warranty clock start ticking before delivery.
