I want those shoes so bad, but my foot is very wide at the front, and they don't offer wide sizes (that I can tell). Are they pretty stretchy and compliant, or hard as rocks?

Yeah, they're pretty badass. Yes, they are very narrow at the front and run small. I usually where size 11 and they were too small, I had to order an 11.5. My foot isn't all that wide though, so they should be fine.
They are synthetic leather, so I don't think they will stretch very much. I wore them to the gym today (size 11) and they weren't terribly uncomfortable or anything. Just a bit too small. They are fairly hard-bottomed though, more so than regular running shoes.
You should try these other Puma bmw shoes that are more casual and real leather (I think).
