My tip is to ring up a panel shop that you would like to use if you ever needed repairs and ask them what insurance companies they are willing to work with.

My experiences withe GIO and choice of repairer over the years has not been good. Authorized BMW repairers wouldn't quote to them, or GIO wouldn't agree to pay their quoted price. These days all the Suncorp brands seem to want to push you through their own repairs shops.

Read the PDS - choice of repairer, but only if they agree with price, and they compare costs to their own unauthorized shops.

I went QBE and seems OK - RACV, Allianz are also recommended by repairers I spoke to.
