Wouldn't it just then be cheaper - a lot cheaper - to get the calipers painted? I mean, that is all BMW (or their supplier) does.

Not sure what kind of 'deal' you got, but $8K for CCB versus $80 for paint job is near impossible to beat if you think they just 'look nice.'
