It's all about peace of mind and what that's worth to you. The car come ready to drive from the factory, it doesn't need any modifications (wheel, suspension, exhaust, tint, or PPF) what so ever. So, if you are driving it to work tomorrow and a stone on the road is 'shot' at your hood by a passing truck and chips the paint, the question you have to ask yourself, is "will that chip bother me?" If the answer is "no, I'll never think about it again" then you should save the money but if the answer is "yes, I'll 'see' it every time I look at the car" then spending the money is the way to go:

4 years - $1300 to $1900 = $0.80 to $1.30 a day
5 years - $1300 to $1900 = $0.71 to $1.04 a day

As you are planning to 'only' keep the car 4~5 years max, you need it to be in the best condition possible so in the long run, it will likely pay for itself.
