I'm in Madison, WI, similar lattitude but I'd guess you may be a bit more "snowier". I have the Alpin PA4 on my M2 that I drive year round. I had Blizzak full snows on a previous 228i that I also daily drove. In my experience the days of cold temps and clear pavement far outnumbered the days with deep snow. I have the good fortune of a second vehicle (X5) for the really snowy days thus for me the cold performance tipped my choice to the PA4. As usual YMMV. I do not regret the choice and winter driving on the PA4 is its own style of enjoyable. I could never say that driving on full snows was enjoyable and I hated mounting them and could not wait to remove in the spring. My PA4s get through snow just fine but you do need to be more attentive to grip than you might with the Xice.
