I've had XIce 3 for the last 2 winters and never had any issues getting stuck, even if I came back from work to a GO parking lot covered with a couple inches of snow. They've been good although they of course never feel great in the dry, I always look forward to switching back to summer tires as soon as I can. My tire shop had said that the PA4s wouldn't be very useful in actual snow, they'd be good on cold dry days after the snow has been cleared.
So if you were using the M2 as a daily then XIce is probably the better tire but if you only want to have tires that you can use on sunny days then PA4 is definitely a better option.
