Even if "CarPlay Preparation" (whatever the hell that means) comes for the F30 in 2017, I very seriously doubt it will be true CarPlay; it will more likely be an iDrive-specific interface with certain functions of CarPlay. That very same thread has several posters who far prefer what iDrive provides functionality-wise anyway.
And
if this thread is any indication, BMW is still actively developing its own Apps to work with Android. If that's the case, why would full-on Android Auto be on the immediate horizon?
