The S55 variant will be an expensive car. A B58 variant is probably more likely to happen.
Any way you slice it, the chassis is the best BMW makes right now, and the Parts bin analogy doesn't hold water in my view. Btwn the changes to the gearbox, the engine, and suspension unique to this car, it was a fully developed M product, so much so that it is faster than M4's around tracks. One could argue they needed to ENGINEER the car not to be too much faster than the big brother around a track. Skinnier tires was one sure fire way to do that for instance.
If you dont get all this, then you dont get the M2 for what it is. And if you want an S55 in the car, you now have lost all that is truly great about this car.
Price, sound, balance.
Keep waiting for the 65k S55 variant that sounds like, "someone farted in a Kazoo under water." Thats the best quote i've heard about it. I truly hate the S55 engine and I think it is a horrible power plant choice for this car. Work buddy has an M3 and I rip on him every time we drive to lunch in it.

was just gonna say this guy is way too salty about his m2 depreciating a lot more than expected. For the record, I have a 235i and at least I am not in denial about it tanking in value if this car is legit.
