The adaptor works perfectly. The standard BMW knobs are just a push fit.

The raceseng adaptor fits snugly over the shift arm and locks on with 1/8" hex grub screws and gives you a precision threaded attachment for their shift knob.

Attaching the gaiter is more tricky. The standard gaiter is plastic welded to the shift knob, you can snap it off quite easily and you're left with a nylon ring glued to the top of the alcantara which you can't remove.

I had to carefully open up this opening to about 20mm or so with a dremmel to allow it to slip over the Raceseng adaptor. Then the new shift knob screws down on top of it to conceal the top of the gaiter.

Their method with a zip tie assumes you have a loose fabric / leather gaiter top but like I said the BMW gaiter had this plastic ring built in.

That's why mine has the wrong gaiter on at present, I didn't want to butcher the orange stitched one just in case I didn't like the shifter or it didn't fit etc.

I'll try and get some pictures.
