So this morning I park in my good no door ding spot at the gym and I go to put the car in reverse to straighten out and the shifter brakes off.

Not like in your hand but not connected to anything. You can spin it around.
Pulled off the boot and nothing obvious.

The car now at the dealership.

Pissed!
