My F80 friend says going to 2nd and back to 1st works for him. As for myself, double pumping the clutch always seems to open up 1st again.

3 manual transmissions all exhibiting the same quirk, I just assumed it was normal at that point. But I am curious as to why it happens.

Basically the cogs aren't lined up, so won't engage.

My previous 335 and my wife's 328 exhibited this behavior. Going to 2nd and back to 1st has always cured the issue on the first attempt for us. I have not yet had this issue on my M2C.
