The chances are that it won't be snowing. Ice and cold temperatures turn those summer tires into skids though.
Edit: I used to leave my summer tires on sometimes in winter, but I didn't leave the sheltered valley. Driving at any altitude with those summer tires in winter is asking for trouble.
