Due to that, generally you only find 2 kind of people living in Amsterdam: either very rich or very poor. The middle class can't afford it and still earn too much to apply for all kinds of benefits for poor people (like subsidized rental living etc). So they live in the surrounding villages.

Amsterdam is also a nightmare on an administrative level imho (maybe because of that)
all true, and I suspect this is happening in many other places in europe but the media (also left leaning and biased) doesn't tend to report on it.
