And also close up. Now obviously BMW would done a better job then me in Photoshop but this is just my idea on what i would love the headlight to be on the 2 series.

The sunken in headlights unquestionably make it look more aggressive.
It was definitely the designers intention. Without the pocket it looks far more bland.
