If this is about retaining a warranty then Dinan or Carbahn. Carbahn appears to have an interesting price strategy. Tuner ($250), no tuner (send in ECU - $0), warranty ($500) or no warranty which keeps the price point low(er). The tune is $500 regardless. The upside here is it's just a tune, you never have to open the hood to install harnesses. The tuner will allow you to flash back and forth from OEM to Carbahn tune.

At the end of the day, you'll have a warranty. Albeit, not a BMW warranty if they discover the issue was caused by the tune. When this happens you file a warranty claim with Carbahn (Similar to Dinan). It's anyone's guess what BMW does at this point moving forward with future warranty claims.

Lastly, gains are minimal but measurable.
