They are most likely forged and lighter weight reducing internal rotational mass. You also ignore all the suspension changes that were made, the DCT, m3/4 axles, chassis strengthening, Active M differential etc.

I wasn't even going to respond to him because to me the M4/M3 sounds terrible. Even with after market like Akra I still have yet to find a good sounding one. But I have heard so many people swear by that terrible sound that I've come to the conclusion that its all subjective.
That being said, the M2 sounds soooo much better than the terrible farting sounding M3/M4.
