If your buddy has a GT, you should never compare the sound of both engine. They are different in every way.
Downpipe will increase sound. Its very noticeable and in my opinion not too much. But different people have different tastes.
if you are worried it might be too loud, get the catted Active Autowerke 300 CEL pipe. It offer a nice sound balace between stock and catless
