Or who was chickening out while Max has the pedal to the metal, it's not just the top speed but the OVERALL performance.
Look at Perez, Albon and Kvyat, when they knew the chips were down and they were likely to walk their performance increased and Perez was thrown a lifeline by RB driving better than anyone of those with a win to come trumps and get the RB seat.
