Yes, procedure is headlights on low beam, car in accessory mode, fan speed 1, maximum heat temp. Then hold gas pedal all the way to the floor until the coolant pump turns on, car will bleed itself and switch itself off when done. Ideally this should be done more than once to ensure any air bubbles are fully purged.
No it doesn't tell you how much coolant you've lost, you will have to top off the expansion tank until the level stays stable at the middle mark, which is the seam.
