I've watched enough videos, I believe it's this section, where it looks like they should have just stick to the line and would have been fine. On April 15, 2009, Toto Wolff (currently Formula 1 team leader of Mercedes-AMG) set a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record in its class (07:03.28) in a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR. In following laps that day, he crashed at 268 km/h upon exiting the 'Fuchsröhre' section ('Fox Hole'). Porsche spoke about an exploded right tire, but only released on-board images of the moment of impact (unlike the moments preceding the crash, showing also the road view).

The 'Fuchsröhre' section in the crash video: after passing the bridge at 02:22 (fast downhill section) (note: although it looks as if Toto Wolff walked away from the crash unharmed, he fainted shortly after getting out of the car and was brought to hospital with quite some injuries - adrenalin allowed him to get out of the car):
