I guess you refer to the MPE.
If that happens to be the case, the driver decides when to toggle between: - "Sport Mode" (= Normally Rumbling Around);
- "Track Mode" (= Make Some Noise).

I believe this track mode is to get around regulation not allowing flaps on exhausts anymore?
