I'm sure it feels like lugging the engine.
Manual mode is the way to go, but still in traction/mdm at start up because the transmission shifts are crisper and fast rather than slow and smooth, which wears on the clutches, and annoys me.
Sport+ all day after the car is warm!
Some say the latest BMW software increased throttle sensitivity in comfort and mdm.
Some say the throttle response is better in comfort after bm3 tune.
