I ended up purchasing the service through an eBay seller for $35; received a BIN file to load on the USB drive and a few minutes later I had full screen CarPlay. The only thing I noticed is that the icons aren't perfectly square now (slightly taller than they are wide) while iOS icons are normally 1:1 ratio. Seems that whatever change was made doesn't quite map the screen resolution pixel to pixel. Anyone else notice this too?
