Audi and M-B don't have nearly the problem with differentiating between models that BMW has. It's much worse in Munich.
Karim Habib had his chance. IMHO, he's part of the current problem BMW's having with sales consistency -- and his leaving now means one of two things (I believe No. 1 is the case):
1). He's been forced out because others at BMW are concerned by the same things most of us have mentioned, or
2). He wanted to do more but was reined in by others, and he'd had enough
I like the X6 and the 2 Series, and the 6 Series GC wasn't shabby for what it is. Everything else is stuck in the design mud and basically look like scaled up/down versions of the same vehicle, including the new 7 Series and 5 Series -- and the spy shots of the 3 Series don't bode well. |
This has been BMW design for decades. Memories are short around here.
BTW... Germans are notorious for copying each other.
