It's hard to give or get empirical data on this since all of us drive differently, live in various parts of the country and have different track set ups. All that I do know is that virtually every high end track car and most race cars use brake ducts...so they must be necessary and functional. I hit my brakes very hard, at least that's what my data says, but I don't stay on them very long....in my M the temp strips tell me I am not overheating the brakes and fade only appears when I go back to back. My pads always wear evenly ( on my third set) and don't show signs of excessive heat.
