Other than less brake dust (and cool factor), I can't think of any benefit the CCBs have over the steel brakes during in town driving. Even if the lack of venting helps keep some heat in them during city driving, they still aren't likely biting as hard as the steel brakes will in that sort of usage.
What is town driving?
We talking spirited driving or puttering through town in first gear?
I can feel the difference between heavy and light wheels so I expect 55lbs for the CCBs will also be noticed, it will certainly be appreciated in my mind irregardless of measurable effect, clean wheels and eye candy too.
I suspect the gigantic brake backing plates on the front CCBs could be the driver for Joe's complaints. I'd remove those before any track events.
