A few years ago I was considering a Jaguar F-Type, and I noticed that though the front bumper is low, they have a kind of sacrificial soft rubbery piece that is lower than the painted bumper. It seemed like a good idea, and to replace it was only a few hundred. If it's designed into the car, and looks cohesive, it's a wonder why no other manufacturers do similar. I guess they don't care once they've sold the car!
