To be fair, the part would never actually come back looking like that.
That's just an example of one method that quite a few tuners/shops are
using to unlock/flash these ECU's. The end result could very well be the
same as any other process, but the margin for error is increased, and the
overall attention to detail/consistency/repeatability is obviously different.

We developed our own vehicle/application specific ECU harnesses for
unlocking and flashing to simplify the process for our dealers and ensure
consistent results. This is the primary reason that we like our customers
using dealers from within our own network, and hopefully explains why
there is a modest price difference between our product and others.
