Also, I can connect to carplay via bluetooth or via a cable, and it still has the same problem. I told the dealership about it, and they said they've had lots of similar complaints and they've submitted them to the BMW mothership.

Carplay does not support USB audio in my 2018. It only streams via bluetooth. My dealer actually encouraged me to call BMW USA and request a refund.
