These M6 x 8mm (with 1.0mm pitch) screws were the shortest ones I could find:

For each screw, I am using two M6 nylon washers that are 1.5mm thick, between (1) the screw and the plate and (2) the plate and the Carbonio mount:

This way, there are no excess lengths at all. I then added silicon bumpers behind the top screws, so that there is no hard contact with the bumper.

So much work for for a damn license plate mount
