From what I understand, the only difference between the stock and the M Performance exhaust set up is the usage of a scant amount of titanium and less sound insulation. There is really not much more to it.

As far as the MP being lighter, I haven't personally measured the weight difference but logically, I'm going to assume it's not a significant reduction in mass or else BMW would of plastered this fact, front page, on all their promotional material for this item.
