A little while back, I was having a conversation with someone else on the forum (forgot the name) who's an audio engineer of some sort, and we definitely agreed the amp was the weak link. He changed out the amp and was pretty satisfied with the improvement. In any case, 6spdcoupe is pretty much the authority, and I'd go with his recommendation (which you have already done)
