Hi all, I just had my first track day in a long while and man was it a thrill. Going into the weekend I was a little discouraged to be put into the beginner group again when I was running solo 3-4 years ago but that changed quickly as the instructor gave all sorts of small pointers that helped to not focus on what a beginner student would work on but rather on giving pointers on where I could trail brake, and where I could take a quicker line that I was able to verify with an advanced run group friend later as a passenger.
With an instructor with me and the car being overall stock with Pilot Sport 4s and stock pads, I ran a 2:38.64 on my first weekend ever at Motorsport Ranch Cresson 3.1. While I wasn’t able to be consistent in laptimes due to traffic in my run group, it allowed me to slow down and focus on making smooth inputs and turn off all the aids to learn the limits of the car.
