I think it can depends though. If you are just daily driving the car with a few spirited drives here and there, lower springs should be fine. Even on stock suspension you arent pushing the car hard enough for the shocks to work past the "restricted range" that the lowering springs would potentially add.

On the track though i 100% agree. Coilovers are almost a must when it comes to tracking the car as you will be pushing the car to its absolute limit and you definetly will be using as much of the shock travel as possible.
