Most people are probably going to have them powder coated. If you don't want to go that route, you can get good results painting them yourself with some proper paint, but it probably won't look as good as a powder coat job. Another alternative is reflective vinyl wrap, holds up to temps really well (can easily survive ~10 seconds or so of a direct flame from a blowtorch). When I wrapped cars, we had a couple per month come in for reflective calipers. Looks awesome IMO. I should still have pictures of a few somewhere, if you're interested in how it looks.
Side note: I dislike red, too common. Brembo gold, Lime Green, or Yellow gets my vote.
