I have driven my M2 as a daily for almost 2 years now. It's overall a great car, but I find it struggles in winter time - mostly due to the fact that I live on a hill and from a standing start the car cannot make it to the top after a heavy snowfall.
I purchased the 513m wheels with OE Michelin alpin pa4 tires lightly used from a forum member for $2k - you'd definitely be better off with Blizzaks or X-ice but it shouldn't be too hard to find some wheels and tires under $2500.
